1998 Canada National Hockey Team Nike Football Shirt

This vintage Nike training jersey features a black polyester body with red side panels and white piping. It is characterized by three white diagonal stripes on each shoulder and a red embroidered Nike Swoosh on the right chest. The center-left chest features an embroidered Canada maple leaf logo, which is the specific 'Olympic' variant used in the late 1990s. The garment is constructed from a lightweight, textured athletic mesh fabric with a ribbed V-neck collar.This jersey belongs to the apparel collection produced by Nike for the Canada National Hockey Team's participation in the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. This tournament was historic as it marked the first time the Olympics featured professional NHL players. Because Olympic rules prohibit national federations from using logos with sport-specific imagery (such as the standard Hockey Canada 'skater' logo), Nike created this specific 'clean' maple leaf crest with horizontal speed lines to represent the team during the Games.
